Why would anyone write the names of places in red on a pink background? It's completely unreadable -- an ungroovy In fact, why would anyone use a pink background for a city map? The street numbers are incredibly tiny and unreadable, and even major intersections and landmarks -- Independence Monument -- are almost impossible to find They apparently saved a lot on the graphic design, because while there is some good text descriptions, the map itself is almost useless. Save your money.

I own several of Aaron Frankel's maps. They're not only good maps, but also clever and humorous. Granted, Aaron is a middle aged male and so am I, but no matter what your age or gender, if you don't take yourself too seriously, this Cambodia map will get you around Siem Reap and Phnom Penh without issues.

I didn't find the map very useful. There are a number of locally produced maps and city guides that I found to be much more useful than this one. I found the quality of the map to be good. As with most maps, including the ones in the popular guidebooks, they are no better than the ones that can be found at most guesthouses when you are in a larger city.

Easy, whimsical picturebook story

Otto can do many things, from playing to being kind to frogs - but he cannot swim; and for an otter, this is a big problem requiring a little help - from a sister. This easy, whimsical picturebook story will appeal to any child tackling swimming skills, and is also a positive story of how a 'can do' and troubleshooting attitude can help, as well as thoughtful siblings and friends. Parents and libraries will find it appealing to young readers.

Completely adorable!

Oh my gosh! This is so cute!!

It's a fairly simple story (an otter that can't swim), and pretty predictable. But that doesn't take away from the sweetness of the story and the absolutely adorable pictures!! It's somewhat like the "Little Engine That Could" idea, that you can do anything so long as you set your mind to it - only the moral in this book focuses on taking things is tiny steps to reach your goal.

Totally worth the read, if for nothing else but the pictures!

At times interesting but ultimately confusing fantasy explination of the mad monk's life.

Considering I’ve read a graphic novel about a Japanese monk from hundreds of years ago, the story of the legendary Russian mystic doesn’t seem nearly as weird in comparison.
Someone kills a Hillary Clinton clone at a speech only to have Rasputin bring her back to life as he talks about watching his father die in the snow. A reporter saw him do it and wants to know how it happened, and the story switches between the present and his telling of how he became the way he is.
Which is incredibly confusing. I’ve done a bunch of research on Rasputin, and if this is how he managed to survive all those assassination attempts. . . hell, it’s as good as any other. But I still didn’t understand how it worked, and I doubt the reporter did either. There appears to be plenty of clues in the narrative, they just didn’t mesh. At one point it’s said he saved JFK after he was shot, making this an alternate universe, but I didn’t understand what that had to do with the story.
What really saves it is the humor; there’s one point where he actually says, “Be quiet, ghost.” Yeah, that’ll work.
I’m not a fan of the artwork; too angular. However, props to the depiction of Maria, who is the cutest little blonde girl I’ve ever seen drawn. The snow fairy—I doubt that’s what it was but can find no other way to describe it—is also beautifully done.
Bonus—script, complete with links and spelling mistakes; quotes, bios.
The final grade below is more for the story than the artwork, although it was damned confusing at times.

A new look at one of history’s “villains”

Not having read Volume 1, this was a bit of a mystery at first. This Rasputin travels through history, manipulating circumstances and using healing powers for his own benefit, leaving him accompanied by the ghosts of those that he has killed as her “enjoys” eternal life. He recounts parts of his life to a freelance journalist.

Cartoon-type illustrations work well here, reminiscent of the French “bande dessin�e” style and there’s plenty of bloodshed. Perhaps a bit brief when it comes to plot. However a good yarn, well recommended.

A sloppy follow-up to a great first volume. This volume answers the question what happened to Rasputin after he was killed by his friends in 1916. It starts out in our time and stays there for pretty much the first issue. I found this very confusing. The stuff with JFK was just dumb. Why change history if you don't show the impact of that change? Riley Rossmo is an enigma. His art can be frustratingly bad and great on the same page.

Collector’s Edition of Everything about DC Universe

Are you a comic book junkie? Are you a superhero fan? Have you been watching superhero animations and movies all your life? Have you been reading comics and graphic novels since you were a kid? Are you a comic book collector? Do you collect everything superheroes including but not limited to comic books, graphic novels, action figures, cards, posters, books, price guides, etc.? Then this encyclopedia is essential to own for you!

They may call you a geek but Superman #1 (DC) just sold for $ 100,000.00 and basically same goes for Captain America (Marvel)! Buddy, you have an investment sitting in your garage cabinets! You have your comic books well organized and neat on top of white cardboards inside plastic covers, ordered by alphabet in rectangular presume cardboard boxes with file numbers and you even designed your cardboard boxes with pictures, logos and alphabetic writings!

They may call you a nerd but you have a fortune sitting your garage which you have been collecting since you were a kid. You are well invested and you are a rich geek! So who gets the last laugh?!

DC Encyclopedia is made for you! Everything you need to know about DC Universe is in there! All the good herbs and spices are in there! All them goodies and super secrets are in there! All the superheroes and super villains’ dirty laundries are in there! All the dirty secrets are in there! All them oodles and oodles of juicy info plus colorful images are in there! There’s Gold in them thar hills!

This book is awesome. It is a hardcover, collectible coffee table book for serious collectors and thirsty enthusiasts for information. It is loaded with pictures, colorful images, tons of information, background info, specifics and details about each character and each Superhero or Super Villain group. It has boxes with detailed historical information, personal information and power levels on each character and then description of their complete lives. It has the complete history of each character described to the bone!

The format is awesome, the images are colorful, the binding is professional and the paper is classy, thick and shiny! It is a very superb and valuable collector’s item to collect for every Superhero enthusiast and fanatic. This book will review your whole memories of superheroes since childhood and gives you new perspectives and new information on the DC Universe.

This encyclopedia is essential for your collection and for your never ending thirst for knowledge of the DC Universe.

I have a few suggestions for you serious collectors:

I. Only collect Marvel and DC because unlike the rest, they go way up in value.

II. Keep on collecting but be wise on what to collect because the right Comic Book collection is like Stock Market or money in the bank!

III. Buy this book because it is essential for your collection, so you know your stuff and what to collect and read.

IV. Buy this specific edition because it is the most comprehensive, complete and well made edition available.

Now you know the deal, so purchase this book to become the Master of the DC Universe! Bon Appetite!

Good expantion

I originally had the DC Encyclopedia without the expanded updates and I have to say I like the updated information the larger book provides, what I think they did, however, war remove some of the character (doing a side by side comparison) to make room for the newer characters and/or thier discriptions. Overall it is a great book, I do think the next expantion should be just a separate, smaller book with the new material in it like the Watchmen world and the new "Before Watchmen" series they've started as well as the revamp for the NEW 52, (which I a very much enjoying for those who wonder), thanks for reading folk, have a nice day!
