The book is great but i wish I had not gotten the kindle ...

You can not use the index to search for a specific disease, instead you have to flip through page by page to get to what you need. It is very time consuming and not practical for a nursing student. Also kindles use of location within a book and not page numbers makes it impossible to cite correctly. The book is great but i wish I had not gotten the kindle version.

I absolutely LOVE this book and wish I had bought it sooner - it would've made last semester of nursing school much easier. But, I'll be going into Fall semester equipped and ready. This book is definitely a MUST have and I highly recommend it for nursing students. It's also a great reference, in general, for all nurses.

I can't reclaim what I never owned,
For Life, it's not mine, but a loan I'm told.

Lonesome I sit in a crowded room;
There're many, but I'm in a cocoon.
Like a puppet, I smile and greet,
But I'm surely unknown to those I meet.
�A hush prevails, and it lingers longer,
For the abyss, it's growing stronger.

Empty as I am despite everything I need,
Devoid of passion and purpose in my deed.
There's a lull on the surface and a storm within.
A boy awaits, to be heard, to be seen.
Devoid of form, of life, of sight;
I wait for death to end my plight.

Listen to the voice, when she beckons,
With the sound of her lullabies, your soul awakens.
Take the road, the heart echoes,
Follow the wind wherever it blows.
I drive through the wilderness of the mountain;
My heart and mind open like a fountain.
The journey guides my soul,
Devoid of judgements, hatred or control.
The wind, the sun, the rivers, the trees,
In their beauty, the soul foresees.

Don't carry the past, nor fear the future,
Embrace the present with all your vigour.
Follow your heart and embrace the light,
However uncertain seems your foresight.

The Now is the past of tomorrow,
The future is born from its shadow.

About the Author
Ravi is an alumnus of Delhi College of Engineering, New Delhi and Faculty of Management Studies(FMS), Delhi University, Delhi. Unlike his contemporaries, he chose to follow where the wind in his sails took him. Today, he is an author, educator and an entrepreneur and is the founder of Ravman OPC Pvt. Limited. Other than writing, Ravi is also passionate about music and traveling and feels that traveling has a deeper connection that is intertwined with a man's very own existence.

If you're looking for literary masterpiece go read Khaled Hosseini or Tolstoy and don't waste your time reading my review. However if you are ready to embark on an honest, trans-formative and no none-sense journey where the author bares his soul for you then go on. You'll not be disappointed.

I hate this book and detest the author for writing it. I've spent days coming up with reasons why I don't like the book. Here is why, the book is not a book, its journey. A dichotomy of being subtle and emphatic at the same time. A juxtaposition of external success and internal failure that all of us encounter. Superficially the transformation of the author is subtle, he learns how to ride, how to not be a pompous know-it-all and how to make friends. But the simplicity of his self discovery shouts out at the reader. Forces the reader to set the book aside and peep inwards. Ask uncomfortable questions. And I hate the fact that at this stage of my life I'm forced to ask myself these questions. To look inwards and ask myself what do I really want to do.

So if you want to know how would it be like to undergo a Kafka-ish metamorphosis but from an engineers point of view, you have found your gem.
Open your mind, start reading and be ready for a life changing experience!!

‘When the Road Beckons’ is a monumental book that I have come across after a long time. Earlier, they were Robert Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Che Quevara’s The motorcycle Diaries. But WTRB is quite different from the genres stated above. It is definitely a book that raises questions, but it does manage to give some direction in seeking those answers. It’s a book that would make you think, that would make you wander so that you can seek and then find the answers in this wilderness of life. Anyone who is caught in the conundrum of life must pick up a copy of When the Road Beckons, for that would be the first step towards seeking his ownself.

'When the Road Beckons' is a one of its kind book that is inspiring and entertaining at the same time. The story is narrative and the reader can vicariously put himself or herself in the shoes of the protagonist and as the journey unfolds the reader finds himself asking those very questions mentioned in this book. The book's message is fresh and inspiring for each of us to look for the path of our calling.

This book is a must have for all those people involved in any kind of writing or speaking - whether formal or informal. I think it should be essential reading for students starting in the sixth form - personal statements, essays especially when there is a need to do timed essays so every word is precious and there is no time for 'space fillers'. Peter F combines a readable manual succinct and to the point (He'd disapprove of that space filler)I have to do presentations and this is a good ready reckoner. I can flick through to any section and do a quick check on my own writing. It is not a solid read but full of pithy statements and easy to remember 'rules'. The bonus? Its actually enjoyable with Peter's drole humour.

While the valuation of standard American option contracts has now achieved a fair degree of maturity, much work remains to be done regarding the new contractual forms that are constantly emerging in response to evolving economic conditions and regulations. Focusing on recent developments in the field, American-Style Derivatives provides an extensive treatment of option pricing with an emphasis on the valuation of American options on dividend-paying assets.

The book begins with a review of valuation principles for European contingent claims in a financial market in which the underlying asset price follows an Ito process and the interest rate is stochastic and then extends the analysis to American contingent claims. In this context the author lays out the basic valuation principles for American claims and describes instructive representation formulas for their prices. The results are applied to standard American options in the Black-Scholes market setting as well as to a variety of exotic contracts such as barrier, capped, and multi-asset options. He also reviews numerical methods for option pricing and compares their relative performance.

The author explains all the concepts using standard financial terms and intuitions and relegates proofs to appendices that can be found at the end of each chapter. The book is written so that the material is easily accessible not only to those with a background in stochastic processes and/or derivative securities, but also to those with a more limited exposure to those areas.

Site unseen, but I know the author as a student

As a former student of Professor Detemple and a former professor, he is simply one of the best organized, most articulate, and without hesitation, one of the truly talented teachers and authors I have ever met.

I just bought the book, and eagerily await its delivery. If his book is as wonderful as he is, I expect a truly outstanding book.

Exotic Derivatives Must-have.

This is the right book to start with exotic derivatives and should be on the shelf of anyone working in this field. I took this course taught by Professor Detemple in Fall of 2014 and it was splendid, nevertheless you'll be able to get even more from reading this book if you already have knowledge regarding stochastic calculus(anyone comes from Shrev and similar books). A good pricing quant should have the ability to replicate all the results in this book.
