If you have a mind of your own and enough confidence in yourself to seek God on your own without the need to look to others for direction these books will feel like home to you. They will resonate on your deepest level. Talk about the most beautiful communion with God! Reading these books have become one of my most favorite past times.

These books changed my life! They changed how I thought about God. Questions that I asked all my life were answered with such clarity! Like someone had written down exactly has I had always believed, but could never articulate it myself. I would highly recommend these books to all who are seeking answers about God, or just about how to live the way God intends us to live. I LOVE THEM!

The type is a bit difficult for me to read, but I actually bought these because they were a set and they are for someone else to read since I have the ebook editions of these books. Neale Donald Walsch is among my favorite metaphysical authors.

The jokes are fun, but there's more...

As the introduction clearly states - all combinations of the zodiac can work with great success, but reaching equilibrium may take work in some areas in some cases and other work in other areas for other cases. Brad Kronen, the Hollywood Astrologer, has been working in astrology and people's relationships for so many years - and you can see that from the conversational ease with which he discusses the similarities, wants and needs of people as seen from their zodiac birth sign. I could see quickly that his mission was to help people in their search for love and happiness.

Before I bought the book, I was worried that analyzing all the signs would be a bit of a slog, but, thankfully, Kronen's a natural comedian - he uses a bunch of jokes, stories, analogies and the like to get you to stop and think about what he's saying. But don't let that make you think this is a comedy book or he doesn't take his work completely seriously. He's real voice is trying to enlighten people about the zodiac and its effects in people's everyday life. You can read that between the lines.

Anyway, I did what everyone is going to do - and what he says you will do - I jumped right to my own current combo and there it was: that little voice in my head wishing I had read this before. Then I went on to ex-lovers and people I wished it had worked out with. (Don't hate yourself - we're all going to do it.) If you could have seen my face it would have been a bunch of "oops" and "well, yeah" because he zeroes in on what you wish you knew.

Anyway, I think this is his first book and I'm hoping to see more.

No stars! He repeats himself nearly verbatim from one star compatibility to the next, just changing the sign match-ups. Clearly, he put no real research or work into this book. His metaphors were confusing and the ramblings of someone who should be sitting on a corner with a sign rather than a published author.

A great launch pad

This book has created within me a need to search more about African and African American history. This is the real stuff, the people, places and things beyond, Martin Luther King, George Washington Carver, and Marion Anderson, Montgomery Alabama, and the "60". No, disrespect to any of these but we are too often taught that these people, and things happened in a vacuum without any reference of what happened before them or at the same time.

The most important thing Dr. Williams does for all people is to answer the question of how did Africa get to the point it currently is in. He pulls back the covers to reveal that the rest of the world did not just pass Africa by, but actively saught to keep Africa back. First, Arabia then Western Europe and its satalites have been robbing and suppressing Africa for centuries.

This book is a must read, if you want to understand where we are now and how we got here.

A brilliant survey by a brilliant visionary.

The average reader of this book always misconstrues it's purpose. The purpose of this book is not to be descriptive, but prescriptive. In other words, The Destruction is not meant to serve solely as a history book. The book's purpose is to provide Afrikan people with an historical background into Afrikan-specific problems of the past, while at the same time, giving viable solutions to what Afrikan people should do to solve the same, lingering problems that slavery, colonialism, and neo-colonialism are very definitely at the root of. One of Mr. Williams' most brilliant observances is the politcal role that Arabs and Islam have played in and among Afrikan people. He cogently and correctly exposes how Afrika and her people have been historically duped and demeaned, not only by Europeans [Chrisitans] and Asians, but by Arabs also. This one issue has been the most talked about, but the least understood. To extract the true essence and point of book one need but look at its subtitle - "Great Issues of a Race from 4500 B.C. to 2000 A.D." That says it all right there. Chancellor Williams, visionary that he was, knew that by the start of the new millenium, Afrikan people would be suffering the same problems that Afrikan people of 4500 B.C. suffered unless . . . we took a step back and gave a critical, crucial, and correct analysis of the problems that confront us. At the end of the book, Williams offers what he refers to as "The Master Plan"; to give Afrikan people a blueprint toward true power and an understanding of who they are and who they still have to be in this world. An most excellent read that prompts you to move from theory to practice!!

Chancellor Williams does an excellent job of not only identifying the issues that we have endured as a people but he leaves you with something unique..... An Answer. How often have you read a book telling us about all the problems in Black America and abroad but then leave you with a feeling of " O.K. what do we do about it?" Well this book does just the opposite. You are left with viable solutions. A most-excellent book!!

Rae R. Newton is Professor of Sociology Emeritus at California State�University, Fullerton. He recently joined the faculty of the School of�Psychology at Fielding Graduate University where he serves as a research�consultant and statistical advisor to doctoral students and faculty. He�received his PhD in sociology from the University of California, Santa�Barbara, and completed postdoctoral training in mental health measurement�at Indiana University. His primary interests include longitudinal�modeling of outcomes for high risk youth and foster care populations,�family violence and statistics education. Excellent, Unusual

This is an excellent book authored by two of my colleagues at the Fielding Graduate University. It offers a straightforward yet sage, anti-cookbook approach to statistics. It isn't a stats textbook, but rather it contains the sort of pragmatic advice you might get from a good statistics consultant. It doesn't tell you what to do so much as provide the information you need to dig out of holes and do a first-rate analysis.

Of special value is the unusual, informative and well-balanced discussion of limitations and controversies surrounding various statistical approaches. For instance, there has been considerable and longstanding controversy swirling around the use of the null hypothesis significance testing. Most undergraduate, graduate and postgraduates who engage in hypothesis testing are unaware of these controversies, in part because they are rarely covered in popular statistics textbooks. The authors explain the controversy in a masterful chapter titled "Rethinking Traditional Paradigms: Power, Effect Size, and Hypothesis Testing Alternatives." I can imagine embattled researchers consulting this book while arm-wrestling over statistical issues with others, including dissertation committee members and journal reviewers.

The book contains excellent and informative Illustrations. For instance, I think figures 12.1 and 12.2 from a chapter titled "The Big Picture" are especially important because they capture the commonalities among a wide variety of statistical techniques.

Just bad!

I`ve read quite a few werewolf romances/erotica and I love the genre but this book was bad, just bad. It was poorly written, in need of an editor (sentences doubled) and the storyline was so unimaginative you wouldn`t believe it. I can`t imagine how this book got so many positive reviews (well, I can imagine how but I don't want to).

So we're supposed to accept that a smart heroine would go to the bathroom with a stranger, have oral sex with him (where he boinks her mouth - she does not do anything actively *yikes*), considers his blackmail, speaks to him via some weird brain-talk and then accepts him as her mate - without any explanations apart from that weird brain-talk.

The hero is, of course, 300 years old (why are they always 300 years old?), hot, rich and because he's hot and rich, we look away from the fact that he`s a complete @ss. Oh, he`s alpha so everything is excused.

This story is very short so we never get to know any of the characters. That`s fine if at least the sex is okay but this story has to have some of the worst sex I've ever read. And I`ve read a lot. Why the heroine ever orgasms, I don't know. I had to read it between my fingers.

This book was free and apparently supposed to make us buy more of the author`s books (which is why half the book is really excerpts of other books). To me this books served as a warning. I was intrigued by the storyline of some of her other books but no way am I going to buy those. Yikes!

Short and erotic

A contemporary paranormal romance, MATE OF THE WEREWOLF follows Grace and Noah. A changeling, Noah knew immediately that Grace was his mate, but Grace who did not know about changelings before was confused. Then Noah blackmails her for her love, but Grace knew that if she gives in, it will destroy whatever future they have.

Fast and furious from the first page to the last, the encounters between Noah and Grace are steamy and sexy.

This book is Rated M for mature due to sexual content.

I must admit, I was not particularly thrilled with the beginning of this story. But after you by-pass the unrealistic full on sexual encounter between strangers, it lives up to the sappy love story plot.

The Secret Rooms

Having really enjoyed the authors previous book Black Diamonds: The Rise and Fall of an English Dynasty, I was looking forward to reading her new work. The Secret Rooms is the story of how Catherine Bailey set out to do some research for a book which ended up taking a completely different direction. When the author came to Belvoir, family home of the Duke of Rutland, she was intending to write a book about the 1,700 men of the estate who left to fight in WWI. However, when she attempted to look at the correspondence catalogued by the Duke, she found that there were three gaps: one in 1894, just before his ninth birthday, the second in 1909 when he was working in Rome and the third in 1915. When she looked at his war diary, the first pages were crammed full of war progress and movements, but after July 1915, it was a blank. What follows is the author first attempting to find what happened to the missing letters and then her search for what happened during those blank periods becomes the story she wants to write.

John Henry Montagu, the 9th Duke of Rutland, was a second son. His elder brother died shortly before the first gap in his edited correspondence. He had three sisters, one of whom was Diana, later the socialite and wife of Duff Cooper. Bailey takes us methodically through her search for the truth. She asks why the Duke died in 1940, locked away in a set of rooms to which only a handful of people were admitted, at his family home Belvoir Castle? What made him spurn a more comfortable sickroom for the spartan one he chose, in order to remain there completing his work, even when he was seriously ill? What, in other words, did he have to hide?

This is a work of great research and the author involves you completely in John's life and that of his family. While I have read much about his sister Diana, I knew little about her parents. John and Diana's mother Violet was a woman who enjoyed intrigue and who never recovered from the death of her eldest child. The problem with the book is that much is conjecture and, although Bailey solves the main mystery concerning WWI, she glosses over parts of the story she is unable to solve - the section regarding John's time in Rome is quite weak compared to the rest of the book. However, I enjoyed following the authors progress as she unravelled the mystery of the missing letters, tracking down the story and uncovering long held secrets in a time when the aristocracy would do anything to present the image they wanted to show the world.

The difference between Belvoir* Castle and Downton Abbey? Belvoir's story is true! And a riveting read.

"The Secret Rooms" takes us inside an amazing but true World War I era mystery that had been waiting all these years to be discovered and solved, behind the locked doors of the muniment rooms of Britain's Belvoir Castle, the longtime home of the Manners family and duchy of Rutland.

Enter TV writer-director-producer Catherine Bailey, who'd chosen Belvoir Castle's archives as the starting place for her research for a book about what became of the hundreds of Belvoir estate volunteers who, at their duke's urging, had gone off to France to fight World War I, and how their experiences had affected those who returned and their way of life after.

But Bailey soon found an even more compelling WWI story to research and write about. The 8th duke's son John, after the war and after he inherited the duchy, closed off the castle's muniment rooms and spent his last years locked inside those five rooms full of family history, doing something he considered urgent and private...and so important to him that, when he developed the pneumonia that would kill him, he refused to leave those cold rooms and whatever it was he was doing there. Nor would he let his own or the king's own doctor enter and try to save his life. He died there alone on an old sofa...having almost, but not quite, completed his mysterious task. After John's death in 1940, his son Charles, the 10th duke, ordered that the rooms be sealed and untouched, and so they remained until Ms. Bailey requested to see what information they could give her for her book. Soon it became clear to her WHAT John had been up to, but not WHY. Finding the answer to that would lead to the research that underpins a book the London newspapers would label "astonishing, jaw-dropping, gripping, compelling, remarkable, superb," etcetera. I agree and I suspect most readers will, too.

Interesting work of non-fiction

Ninety-nine years have passed since the beginning of WW1, or as it was called at the time, "The Great War". Nearly a century ago, war was sparked by the assassination in Sarajevo in June, 1914, of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Because of the tangled web of alliances, most of the nations in Europe went to war. In Great Britain and the imperial territories, hundreds of thousands of young men gaily joined up to fight for their king and country in a war that was supposed to last only a few months. Four long, dreadful years later, with the fields of France and Belgium turned into trench-laced killing fields, the war was over. An entire generation of young men and the cities and villages they had come from were starkly reminded of the toll the war had taken.

British historian Catherine Bailey has written one of the finest books on WW1 that I've read. Her new book, "The Secret Rooms" is a rather melodramatically-titled book about the Manners family - the Dukes of Rutland - and their castle "Belvoir" (pronounced "Beaver"). Bailey had intended to write a book about the Belvoir estate and the affect the war had on its thousands of tenants. However, once she got to work, perusing the war records at the castle, she stumbled upon a more interesting, more personal story. And that's the story she tells in "The Secret Rooms".

John Manners, the 9th Duke of Rutland, died in 1940 in a back part of his huge castle. He had sequestered himself in these rooms for a few months before his death at the age of 54, working frantically on his family's legacy. The British government had sent a huge number of boxes of archives to be protected from the German bombing of London, but it was not these records the Duke was interested in. He was interested in his own family's records and he tried to weed out letters and diaries that would obscure a smallish part of his own life and how it related to the lives of his parents and siblings.

But what was Rutland trying to hide, and why was he trying to hide it? In her fascinating book, Bailey takes the reader though the last 30 years or so of the 19th century and into the first half of the 20th. By looking at these years through the mysteries of the Manners family, the reader is exposed to an amazing recap of both family and societal history.

I think the sub-title of the book, "A True Gothic Mystery" might scare some potential readers away. Bailey's book is more - so much more - than a silly story. She truly tells the story of a time and a place and a family. It's a great read. If you're a WW1 buff, please put this on your list.

Short but a very amazing story, nonetheless!

Wow! Iloved this story. I really wasn't expecting this story to go the way it did, so that was a plus because it was so much better than I expected it to be. I guess it was the element of surprise that really sucked me in, and kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next. I LOVED that this wasn't one of those cookie cutter romances, where you know from the start where the story was headed before you even got past the first 4-5 chapters.

I also didn't exect King to be as shy as he was, when he was first introduced into the story, mainly because most men who have built an empire from practically nothing, ususally tend to be very outspoken and powerfully driven men. I loved Stephanie right from the start. She was my kind of woman, willing to stand her ground and fight for what was rightfully hers, no matter what. Lord's money and power wasn't going to change her mind.

Very good story, and very well written. I would love to know the reasoning behind Emma's bad attitude, when it comes to any dealings with Lord. Especially when she's such a sweetheart around everyone else. Guess I'll just have to check out the next book to find out.

Love the King!

This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more. The story was very well written with amazing supporting characters. I was at odd how the author wrote just enough to keep the readers on edge before revealing and unfolding the true secret to the building. The story was an introductory to Matthew King and Stephanie Prescott true connection to an old bookstore as well as the need for each other. Stephanie was a strong-willed trooper as she willing fought for what was hers and you have to just love her! At times it was emotional to see how Matt's mother health was deteriorating rapidly. I was extremely appalled at how shy Matt was and needed to be coached on his dating skills. I look forward to read the next installment in the Brotherhood Bachelors.�KUDOS to the author!

This book is another great book written by the Monks of New Skete.
It shows the importance of our dogs in our daily lives and their relevance to our daily existence. It shows that we can learn from them if we take the time to watch and listen.

It is a lovely book, with the spiritual connection between humans and dogs beautifully described and illustrated. It is, however, repetitious if you already have "I and Dog." One book is enough.

The monks have a writing style that is informative and uplifting all at once. The quotes they chose are perfect for the pictures. I own several of their books and love them all. I highly recommend this book to any dog companion.
